Bairstow Eves North East - History
In 1999 Bairstow Eves celebrated a centenary year with origins dating back to 1899 when John Bairstow originally formed the company in the county of Essex. After many years of successfully operating within the Essex environment Bairstow Eves plc merged with Mann & Co. plc in March 1985. This new enlarged company was acquired by Hambro bank and subsequently Hambro plc was formed

In October 1994 Hambro Countrywide acquired the Nationwide Estate Agency network of offices creating a number of individual trading subsidiaries throughout the UK including Bairstow Eves North East which was launched in January 1995 with 14 offices in Tyneside, Northumberland, Teesside, Durham and North Yorkshire

February 2000 saw the addition of a new branch at Whickham and also during the same year our specialist New Homes department was created

As part of our ongoing strategy for continuous improvement to develop customer care, in June 2001 a dedicated Customer Care department was established with the specific objective of ensuring the highest level of customer service delivery therefore placing Bairstow Eves North East at the forefront of estate agency customer care

In 2002 Countrywide plc acquired over 100 offices from Friends Provident Group further adding to the future growth and expansion of our operation

In 2004 Countrywide plc acquired over 300 offices from Bradford and Bingley further adding to the operation and extending the number of branches to over 1000.
