The origins of our company
lie in the middle of the 19th Century, when estate agency
was practiced in the heart of Suffolk. Over the next
100 years or so, the company evolved, until in the 1950’s,
a group of offices became established, to form the basis
of the current day Abbotts.
By the time we had reached the mid-1980’s, the
subsidiary was 48 offices strong and became part of
what is now known as Countrywide plc.
Since 1992, because of the volume of business transacted,
the Abbotts subsidiary has been split operationally
into Abbotts North, covering Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire
and Essex and Abbotss South, covering Essex and East
London.
Abbotts remains an interesting and diverse subsidiary,
selling not only residential housing and associated
mortgage services, but also specialising in country
houses, enjoying a fruitful association with John D
Wood & Co., the London and Home Counties based estate
agent, established in 1872.
In addition, Abbotts has two very active Land &
New Homes Divisions, which source land, offer land for
sale and gain instructions to market brand new properties
from a variety of developers.
Further, Abbotts offer architectural services from
its office in Wickham Market and has a long established
and well regarded Auction Rooms, selling fine arts,
Victoriana and household effects.
This well established and incredibly diverse company
offers to its customers a full service, where they can
experience the benefits and convenience of one-stop
property shopping, with conveyancing available through
our associated company, Countrywide Property Lawyers
and surveys available through out associated company,
Countrywide Surveyors.
In turn, our staff can experience an environment where
they are able to motivate themselves and the customers,
in order to create sales and where they can seek for
themselves only the very best.
